On second thought, maybe product endorsement isn't the fix for our budget problems. |
Many churches look for creative ways to pay the bills. Besides taking a regular collection, putting on bake sales, rummage sales, and harvest suppers are most common. What if congregations did underwriting announcements like PBS..."support for this mass is brought to you by..."? Or what if churches went the sports route; notably the advertising on race cars or tennis apparel? Maybe we'd better stick the the bake sales.....

Cute. After going to Mexico this summer and seeing their baseball players done up like a Euro soccer star or NASCAR driver, I thought “where does all that money go?” It is enough for me with the shoes, hats, and jersey tags by Nike, UnderArmor, etc. along with the signs at the park but I can do without the uniforms looking like that!
Nice blog. Thanks.
I LOVE THIS!!! We could also do…
“Today’s Communion Wine is brought to you by Gallo Vineyards of California, which encourages you to sip responsibly.” “Today’s Communion Bread would have been brought to you by Hostess, but they’ve gone bankrupt and so sent some stale Twinkies.”
Really - the idea of a product endorsing stole is fabulous!!! My congratulations and you may now clean up my keyboard, which is brought to you (to me, actually) by Apple, maker of fine computers. Their keyboards can be thrown into the dishwasher (which is brought to you by Maytag).
Love the humor here! Twinkies for communion....what wine goes with Twinkies?
